Human Resources services over 2600 employees in a community of over 250,000 citizens and is responsible for the conduct and administration
of the Civil Service Personnel Program by:
- Coordinating,
creating, revising, implementing, and maintaining standard operational
procedures, rules and regulations, performance evaluation program
(PEP), appendixes, and personnel forms in support of the program;
- Auditing
systems, monitoring departments for compliance, advising management,
maintaining and improving employee relations, evaluating and surveying
effectiveness and efficiency of personnel functions.
The
County supports a policy of nondiscrimination with employees and

We
employ full-time, part-time, and temporary employees. New full-time
employees must serve a 12 months orientation period of employment
before obtaining Civil Service Status.
Our
Civil Service System provides employee benefits and services to
all employees employed for 91 days or more and has an appeal and
grievance process for employees who have completed the 12 months

We
strive to pay salaries competitive with those in our surrounding
counties. Merit increases are recognized through individual effort
and measured by the employee's Annual Performance Evaluation.
