Refuse Control is a service provided by Clayton County for residents located in the unincorporated area of Clayton County. This department handles the disposal of certain items that your waste removal company may not pick up.

Refuse Control will pick up yard debris, furniture, appliances, limbs (up to 6" in diameter and not longer than 10 ft.), bags of leaves, and miscellaneous items.  Paint cans will only be accepted if they are completely empty or the paint has been solidified with cat litter with no lid attached. The following items will not be accepted: tree trunks, batteries, tires, shingles, bricks, paint, , any heavy metal or hazardous items.

Responsible for Nine Major Operations within the County

• Maintaining county's landscaping at 43 building sites
• Keeping all county buildings clean and maintaining the highly waxed floors
  and cleaning of carpet
• Deliver inter-office mail on a daily basis
• Trash removal from all county buildings
• Assist departments with moving inter-office or to another building
• Removal of deceased animals on county rights of way
• Designated as a State Community Service Agency with all community
  service hours reported to probation officer
• Assist community with pauper burials
• Cleans and cuts grass on County roads and rights-of-way
• Assists in cleaning and cutting State roads in County

Debris Removal

1. Place items to be picked up by the curb on the county's right of way;
2. Call Refuse Control at (770) 477-3548 and schedule a time for an inspector
   to come out and prepare an assessment of the items you need picked up.
   (Note: The assessment is provided at no charge.)
3. The debris removal fee is assessed by our Inspectors based on the amount and type of debris and the amount of time to load and unload the debris. However, there is a minimum fee of $15.00 that will be charged. Payment of fee constitutes acceptance of price. Should you decide to use the county's service, payment can be done in one of four ways:
   
   
   1. Pay the inspector either cash or check at the time of inspection; or pay by either check card or credit card (VISA or MasterCard); or
   2. Come by our office and make payment; or
   3. Mail your payment to our office at:
