Vehicle Emission Inspection
For the 2008 test season, all 1984-2005 model year gasoline powered cars and light trucks (up to 8,500 lbs gross vehicle weight rating) registered in Clayton County require an emission inspection. The inspection station will give you a copy of inspection letter (please bring in or mail in with your application). A vehicle that is driven less than 5,000 miles per year, is 10 years old or older AND is owned by a person 65 years of age or older, may qualify for exemption. Tax Commissioner's Office will issue waiver. This MUST be done each year.
